Long time no pendoodle

I went down to the corporate office of my job a few weekends ago and picked up some of their swag, including a few really nice notebooks. Then, at FCN, I also snagged a ton of the hotel’s ballpoint pens and stuff them in my bag. I had a 4 hour train ride from Ann Arbor back to Chicago, followed by lots and lots and lots of Battlestar Galactica after. That’s when the madness ensued.

Not sure what this thing is supposed to be. I’ve been following a lot of street art pages on Facebook and Reddit and Twitter, probably influenced by the crazy styles of everyday things drawn on brick walls. I also love drawing huge claws, and maybe this gave me an excuse to go nuts with it.

Ah, pendoodling is so refreshing. The flow of ink is just…there’s the loose freedom of sketching, with the scary permanence of ink. If you screw up, you have to find a way to cover it up, and sometimes that lends itself for an awesome drawing, like the one above. This second one didn’t fare so well, but it’s not bad either.

I played around with coloring this today, with…not so good results. So if you’re looking to take a stab at coloring these, have at it! I can give you a high-res, watermark-free version to play with too if you like.

What do you think of these? And do you pendoodle at all? Let me know in the comments!
